Physical Therapy

Physical TherapyTreatments incorporate a number of modalities, that include, but are not limited to: muscle strengthening and lengthening exercises, electrical stimulation, cold laser therapy, ultrasound, spinal traction, moist heat and cryotherapy. Exercises are intended to increase muscle strength and flexibility in order to restore and maintain proper joint mechanics and reduce the incidence of injury.

Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention

Numerous types of injuries can occur during sports participation, but many of these injuries can be prevented by proper training and conditioning, as well as correcting muscular imbalances or improper form. Our physical therapists can assess these areas and design your exercise program accordingly. Individual and team programs are available.

PRO Physical Therapy is a certified clinical site for Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center’s nationally acclaimed Sportsmetrics™ program. Sportsmetrics™ was created by internationally renowned orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, Dr. Frank R. Noyes, M.D., and it is the first and only training program that is scientifically proven to decrease serious knee injuries in female athletes. Sportsmetrics™ starts with a video analysis of the athlete which compares objective measurements to a database of over 800 athletes to determine their risk of injury. The Sportsmetrics™ program is a six-week program which increases vertical jump height up to 4 inches, improves hamstring to quadriceps strength ratio and equalizes symmetry in right to left leg power. Athletes are taught to improve landing mechanics that reduce side-to-side movements of the knee that lead to injury. Sportsmetrics™ exercises can be taught for injury prevention or implemented in a patient’s rehabilitation routine to further protect and strengthen the athlete.

Pilates

FitnessPilates is a great adjunct to our physical therapy program, because it safely strengthens the "core" (i.e. trunk) musculature. Many of these exercise are incorporated into our physical therapy programs, especially with our spinal patients for core stabilization. When patients have completed their physical therapy program, they may continue on their own with our pilates program. Our therapists regularly communicate with the pilates instructors whenever a former patient transitions to the program.
